THIRD WORLD BUNFIGHT presents the diverse works of South African artist, Brett Bailey:
theatre productions, installations, operas, house music shows, and site-specific performances.
His idiosyncratic, iconoclastic works focus a probing lens on the world we live in; in particular the post-colonial landscape of Africa, and the historical and contemporary relations between Africa and the West.

‘Brett Bailey is our greatest theatre director, hauntologist, mesmeriser, an artist who returns us over and over again to an Africa that is as obscene as it is elegiac, as deranged as it is transfigural. Our Rimbaud in Africa – trafficker in the illicit, unconscious, sublime – Bailey returns us to the complexity of a continent which remains perversely resistant to categorization.’
– ASHRAF JAMAL, SLIP, 2012

‘The country’s most advanced theatre company…’
– MAIL & GUARDIAN, 2011

Only a month left to enter this competition. Great opportunity for international exposure for anything from small-scale experimental music theatre works to large scale operas. And a real hunger for works from Africa.

More than 300 slavery and migration scholars respond to those advocating for military force against migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean. This is no slave trade. Where is the moral justification for actions that cost lives?
